The most important thing you do is…
The most important thing you do...is breathe.
On average it's 960 times per hour or 8,400,000 times per year. Every year.
** The kicker: The way you breathe, determines your experience.
Knowing that you're breathing.
When you take an in-breath, know that it's your in-breath.
When you take an out-breath, know that it's your out-breath.
This is the first teaching. It's simple, yet very important.
Being connected with the breath, helps you to be where your body is.
Here...and present to the reality as it is, in this moment.
Otherwise, it's only memory or imagination; rumination or projection. The history or the mystery...and life is lived only in the moment...hmmm.
The most important breath is...
This one.
Without the breath, everything else stops. Including the busyness ;)
There's only one way to know that you're breathing.
And it's not possible through thinking, rationalisation or intellectualisation. The only way to know is to sense it.
When you start coming to your senses more, you fall awake to the life as it's happening. Moment by moment, breath by breath.
